1991 Ford Ranger transmission won't shift into overdrive

the trany in my truck will not go in to overdrive i have no button to turn it off or on. do i have a overdrive belt or a electricial solenoid problem

Solenoid most likely in pan on valve body. Any vibration ? lerching? or just plain nothing?
