Transmission problem
1991 Ford Ranger Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a plow truck for home use only. I just lost forward and reverse. I Checked rear end, is ok. Dropped the trans. Pan and filter and found filings in pan. Cleaned up the pan and replaced new filter & fluids, but was not the solution. I now have a grinding noise. Engine light has come on but gone back out. Have snow coming, low on funds and doing self repair. Rebuilt the top of motor 3 mos ago, and replaced the alternator yesterday.

Sounds like you need to rebuilt the transmission. You can try something like lucas oil for transmissions. I don't know if it will help but it might at least get it moving. Good luck.
