Transmission problem
1991 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 190K miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
My 91 Ranger makes a grinding sound when the clutch is engaged. When starting the truck jerks forward like the trans is not disengaging all the way. Want ot make sure its the clutch and not a cylinder before I drop the trans and change the clutch.

Check the master and slave cylinders for leaks and try bleeding the system first, if you get air out and the clutch is working fine, look for a hydraulic problem first.
