My ranger is not going into gear, while the truck is running. When I shut it off it will go into gear. I checked the clutch fluid and it was a little low. I put fluid in it and pumped the clutch pedal, still nothing. It happened randomley while I was driving it.

If it shifts through the gears with the engine off, the trans is most likely fine. Have you ever serviced it? Also, if the problem is when it is running, does it seem to get worse the hotter the engine gets?

Chances are the clutch needs replaced, 96k isnt really that much on a clutch... you could also have a hydraulic issue
