The transmission does fine until the transmission fluid warms up. Then it will go into reverse but the truck won't move and it won't shift into third.

Will changing the fluid and filter do anything to help us...?

We are both disabled and need our 4 wheel drive truck but can't afford a transmission rebuild...

There is a Tech bulliten for #4 thrusst washer and high clutch drum assy. You can try the fluid, but with 280,000 on the clock, I suspect it needs more.
