1990 Ford Ranger Oil pressure

Problem: when accelerating, engine light is on, then off if lower the speed, or keep the same speed. When driving greater than 65 mile, the oil pressure indicator is low, even like no oil pressure. The truck runs OK.

Do you think I should change oil pump? Any suggestion?

Install a manual gauge to verify the pressure, If it is good, then it is most likely a bad oil pressure sender
