Electrical problem
1989 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

The wires that come from the washer reservoir have been cut a couple of inches from the bottom of the tank. I cannot find the other wires to re-connect. I need advice as to how to rewire the pump. I will probably have to run new wires but I don't know where to run them to. Help please.

Probe the wires with a voltmeter to check which is live and which is ground. The motor terminals should be marked. You will have to have someone operate the switch while you test the wires?

Thanks for your response, but my problem is that there are not any wires to the switch, the only wires left are at the bottom of the reservoir. I need to know where to run new wires from the reservoir to the power switch. I cannot find where to re-connect new wires to the power switch. Thanks

The washer motor wire from the wiper/washer arm is a pink/light green wire that's the hot/live wire the motor is grounded @G102 ground point centre of left fender. Of course you can ground it wherever you can find a good spot? You will need to trace the hot wire or run yourself a new wire to the switch?

Thanks, But what I need to know is where is the switch, there are no wires to trace, I need to run new wires but don"t know where the switch is located. The only wires left are about 2 inches at the bottom of the reservoir. Thanks

The switch is intergrated into the wiper control multifunction swith on steering column? You will have to trace wire from there. Or rewire to the arm?

You could alway's go for the easier option of buying a toggle switch and mounting it on/under the dash with a live feed from something else (ie. Cigarette lighter) or a fused wire diect from battery?
