Engine Mechanical problem
1986 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 45000+ miles

Bought the vehicle with distributor removed because no spark. Tested and replaced control module and now have spark and need to re-install dist. and time. My question is how to time the dist. to the engine.

put number one cylinder on top dead center... then put in distributor with the rotor pointing at the #1 spark plug.

from there you run vehicle till warm and then set the timing with a timing light.
