1986 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I was not getting any gas to my gas filter so I drop the Gas tank and removed the pump screen and filled it with water not a drop went therw it.
I changed it Then I test ran pump and it was pumping
a full stream about 4" Long of discharge is this normal? Output it has what looks like a check valve inside of discharge barb and this pump was replaced 1 year ago. I relay dont want to buy a pump if I dont need to. What do you think.

Water should not go though that filter. That is a great filter designed to suck gas not water.

Check the opressure at the rail and get back to me. How far of a stream has nothing to do with it being good or bad.
