Transmission problem
1985 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 10000+ miles

Just pulled my Ranger out of floorpan deep water which it had been sitting in for four days. When I step on clutch the shifter does not go into gear with the engine on. If I turn the engine off, the shifter goes into gear.

Thank you for donating. The issue you have posted with will likely require the removal of the transmission to clean up the clutch. Having had that same truck, it is not terribly difficult to remove the tranny to access the clutch, give yourself 3-4 hours to complete the task. You did not state if the issue was there before the truck was in the water, I am assuming it worked fine.
