1984 Ford Ranger my ignition works but it wont stay running

1984 Ford Ranger Two Wheel Drive Manual

the ignition is brand new just put it in and it'll start the truck but when i let go of the key the truck turns off

Did you replace the ignition switch on bottom of collum? if yes need to adjust so it will be in run position when key is let go.
