Transmission problem
1983 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I was driving my 1982 Ford Ranger (manual trans) up the mountain earlier today, and noticed a growling noise when it was put in gear. In neutral it was fine. I parked it and gave it a rest for about 30 minutes, because it has been running/shifting just fine. It felt as if the clutch was sticking a little, because it sounded as if the throwout bearing may have been constantly engaged. I drove it back down the mountain, and on my way home, shifted into neutral to coast. As I released my foot, the pedal did not come back up. I could no longer get the clutch to engage at all, so I coasted to a parking lot and crawled underneath it. I had my friend push the clutch in as I examined the slave cylinder. It seemed as if it was not "compressing" like it should (The boot didn't go all the way, and was almost trying to push at an angle) and I noticed fluid leaking out of the boot every time the clutch was pressed. I am not sure what to do, and the vehicle is still sitting in the parking lot. I need it over the weekend for various chores, so I would really appreciate some input. Thanks!

You need to replace the slave cylender. If it is leaking, that is the problem.
