01 ford ranger 4X4

i having trouble getting the 4X4 to work it will not do nothing when the knob is turned. i have replaced the shift motor but it did not help i also have checked the fuses none of them is blown

i know where u r talking bout but how do u unconnect it i took the little plastic cover off of it but that was it

u said u could tell me how to fix it so if u don't mind pls tell me how to fix it and is the only way to unconnect it is to take the seat out and roll back the carpet
