The window is down and the internal wire ropes are terminated but loose. How should the wire ropes be routed? What is the most likely cause of the failure? Do I have to repalce a part?

If the cables are broken you will need to replace what is called the window regulator. This is the assembly that actually lifts and lowers the window.
