Thanks for the diagram of me engine.
I cannot find the timing mark on the engine for the life of me.
I found the ones on the sprockets ok.
When i turn the cams and they flip over they automaticly go to 10 oclock. The diagram looks like the one closest to the #1 cylinder is at about 9 oclock. That would mean that it is in a state of pressure and about 1/3 of the way to flipping over again. Is that correct?

If i had taken the positive cable off of the battery would that mess up the codes and cause it not to start?

Thanks for the help. It is greatly appreciated

Disconnecting the battery and reconnecting won't cause a no start unless you shorted something out. And since you say it turns over you have fuel and spark and that you just changed your water pump and had to remove the timing belt to do so. I would say that the no start is do to timing.

The only thing disconnecting the battery will do is clear the engine codes.

Ok, is there a plastic shrod that goes on the back side of the cam sprockets that you removed? if so look on the for the timing marks. If not did you purchase a new timing belt? If so look n the new belt for two white dots. In some cases that the timing ends up like your does the belt helps get the timing in time with the marks.

If you don't see any marks on the side that is facing out you may have to remove the belt and look on the other side.

The timing marks are very small nubs inside the belt housing. The nub and cam sprocket that is closest to the #1 cylinder is at about 9.30 about 1/2 way between the cycle. This means that it will want to move.Hold this one with a wrenchwhile you put the belt on and tighten it into place. The other cam sits at about 10.00. that worked well for me.
The problem is that you need 4 hands.
Thanks for all the help
