1994 Ford Probe 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

my aunt has a 94 ford probe and it squeeks when she starts it. think its the belt slipping i need to know how to tighten it. where the tensioner pulley is located. thank you

BELT ADJUSTMENT Tensioners may be used to automatically adjust belt tension to specification. Check belt for fraying. If fraying exists, ensure belt and tensioner are properly aligned. See Fig. 1 . Tensioners may contain a belt-wear indicator. See Fig. 2 . If tensioner reaches travel limit, as indicated by marks on tensioner, replace belt. On vehicles without tensioners, ensure belt tension is within specification. See BELT TENSION ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS table. BELT TENSION ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS (1) Application New Belt(2) Used Belt 2.0L Alternator...........175 (80)110-150 (50-68 P/S & A/C155 ......(70)110-150 (50-68 2.5L Alternator............175 (80)110-150 (50-68 P/S.....................145 (66)88-120 (40-54) (1)Tension is measured in lbs. (kg) using tension gauge. (2)Any belt in operation for at least 10 minutes.
