I have an 83 Mercury Marquis midsize wagon, 114,000 miles. At idle, 16-18lbs vacuum are present. In gear, with brake applied, 12-13lbs. With accelleration, my damper doors will shut for the a/c system. They will open back up while driving but only while Im off the throttle. Where is this loss of vacuum pointing to?

you may not have a leak. did you check to see if there is a check valve in the line to the hvac unit??? if valve is not holding then your doors will close during low vacuum operations. If valve is holding then your leak may be in hvac lines????
