When I bought this car it was from an auction. I do not know how to reprogram the keyless entry. I used to recode Lincolns but that was 15 - 20 years ago and I don't remember how. I did remember that pushing the last 2 numbers simultaneously locks it. I would appreciate any help on this.

Thanks

What to check next

Diagnostic guidance. Suggested checks and possible repairs are separate from the owner's reported results.

Provide the vehicle make, model and year, and state whether you can find or already have a factory-set master code or other documentation for the keyless-entry system. Also report any existing observations about the keypad’s behavior (e.g., whether it currently responds or shows any code-related markings).

To "reprogram" the code is only to change the "user code" which requires knowing the "master code" (factory set) which needs to be entered first. On the passenger side trunk hinge (open your trunk and look at the hinge/housing), you should see a sticker with 5 digits on it (with a Ford logo background) that is the factory code for the keyless entry. It is also found on the driver's side fender (mid-way down) as seen from the engine compartment. You are correct, after entering the code and holding down the last 2 buttons locks the doors. There is also a way to pop the trunk, and to open/close the windows after entering the code.

Discussion summary

Reprogramming keypad on the drivers door

Owner bought the car at auction and does not know how to reprogram the driver’s door keyless-entry keypad. The owner recalls a past experience with Lincolns (15–20 years ago) and remembers that using a particular two-button action locked the doors. No vehicle year/make/model or master-code status was provided.

Reported outcome: The owner did not report a confirmed reprogramming or resolution in this thread.

Key vehicle identification and any owner-verified factory master code are missing. A participant reply suggested where a factory master code sticker and keypad functions might be located, but those claims are unconfirmed by the owner and remain suggestions, not verified findings.
