We have a 2001 Ford F-450 diesel with approx. 200k miles on it. We use this as our work truck and here recently the rear end locked up on it while driving down the interstate. We have had this "fixed" 2 prior times at a small local garage. It was making a whining noise before it locked up both times, unfortunantly our employees did not warn us of this until after the truck locked up. We are trying to figure out what exact part is broken and if this is a common problem with these trucks or if it probably has to do with the repair done on it the two prior times it was "fixed". We would appreciate all of the help or advice we could get.

There are a lot of parts in a rear end, that there are only about a couple thing to make it locked up, ether the spider gears exploded jamming the ring gear or the pinon bearing went out and jammed the pinon to the ring gear I don't know what to tell you except, don't take it back to that local shop, you need to find a rear-end specialist, rebuilding rear-ends is very technical and you need to have the right tools and you need to know what you were doing
