2007 Other Ford Models Brakes Caliper

Ford Mondeo car, at service, right side brake caliper found damaged. How can a brake caliper be damaged by the driver?

They say that guarantee does not cover it, because it was damaged in some sort of accident. The car does not show any marks of an accident.

The only thing that comes to mind, is that the caliper bolt was left off during production (happens). the caliper fell into the wheel during delivery or PDI (pre delivery inspecton) and they replaced the wheel and not the caliper. Other than that, i cant think of anything
