We took our Ford Conversion Van E250 into the Ford Dealer with a problem with the transmission. The problem is that we didn't know exactly what our warranty was or if it had expired. He was up front with the cost of 3K.

We decided to tell him to go ahead with it. We told him we didn't know for sure that it was covered on the warranty but it had to be taken care of one way or the other, whether it was covered or not.

We looked for the warranty and found it a day and a half later after telling him to do it. The info stated that the dealer must call so he said he'd call and have to pretend he was about to repair it and that they already did it. He gave us no options at the start before doing the repair. Now he is telling us that someone from the warranty company is coming to inspect the car. They are now telling us that the old transmission was sent away and can't be retrieved. And that we are responsible. I told him that this is unacceptable and he's going to check with his boss. He later told me that the old transmission may still be in the shop but he's not sure, which has raised one of many red flags in this mess.

Any advice in this warranty repair mess?

Hi there,

If the repairer has tried to short cut the warranty procedure and now finds him self in a bind, well thats his fault, it is the responsibility of the repairer to follow the warranty procedures, or he will be cut off. If you were unaware of the terms of you warranty, you really should not have agreed to any work until this was resolved, if the warranty Co, wipe there hands of the matter as they are now entitled to do, This is now commercial deal between you and the repairer, and how you resolve that re costs is up to both parties.
