I have a 2000 S-type 4.0 with the 5 speed automatic transmission. The dealer says 6 speed. The transmission, after a long trip on the road over 100 miles, will make a grinding nosie between first and second and will make that noise for about 2 or 3 seconds then with hesitation shift. Once the car sits for awhile, I assume to cool off, then it does not have any problems until I've gone in excess fo 100 miles again. Has anyone had this problem and is this transmission used in other Ford automobiles?
Thanks

Something is coming apart. Auto trans does not make grinding noises. Have it repaired before you have a serious failure

It happened again on a trip to S.C. As I knew it would. I drove straight to the Jaguar dealer and they agreed that some noise was coming fromt he transmission but also said the car was working properly. Of course that B.S. Jaguar has washed their hands of it. I'm not far from trading it on a newer one and will make a point of going to a Jag. Dealer to dump it back on them.
