1972 Other Ford Models transmission is stuck in 2nd gear

Ford F-100 , 360 engine, 3 speed on column. recently I tried to put truck in gear and it hung up .I'm no mechanic by any means but am willing to try to fix myself if not to complicated. Any suggestions as to what to check and how to fix will be greatly welcomed.

hi yes , the ole three on a tree..this was a common prob for these things. you have plastic grommets on the shifter rods at the cab and at the trans replace these bushings this will solve the shifter lock prob
