2000 Other Ford Models Manual

Hello, I have a Ford KA and I can smell like a hair dryer kind of smell coming through the heating vents when they are on and it also smells like this from the engine when you get out of the car, The oil was really low but I have topped this up and the smell still has not gone away. I have a long drive to Wales coming up soon so I need to know whats wrong. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

you may have some insulation from under the hood lying on the exhaust
