1998 Other Ford Models battery light

I was driving back from a llong drive which should have charged my battery when I had to stop at lights my car stopped and wouldnt start again my overheating button was flashing and my battery light was too but just before this happened simultaniously my passenger seatbelt and oil light would flash too. Sine iv put a alitre of water and the matching coolant in my radiator and fitted a new battery. When I went out to test drive the new battery the battery light was sold and the overheating button flshed about 4 seperate times any ideas:D?
