1996 Other Ford Models overheating car

hi

i have a 96 ford festiva and just recently it has just started overheating but it doesnt happen all the time about every third time i use it the radiator is pretty full when i check it and the oil dipstick is on full as well can you please help me find the problem

Start by replacing the thermostat then comeback if it continues.
