Squeaking

I have a 98 Ford Mustang 3.8L V6 with 134,000 miles. A week ago I noticed a squeak that would come and go, now it is much more frequent, almost all the time. I thought it might be the belt, so I replaced it and it still squeaks. While I had the belt off, I turned the tensioner pulley and it was fine so was the idler and alternator. I think it is coming from the water pump pulley or the main pulley below the water pump, I think this is the one that drives them all. I tried using WD-40 on the pulleys but that didn't help. My friend thinks I need a new water pump, but it isn't leaking, and the car doesn't run hot. Besides, would a water pump squeak? Any suggestions? Also, I replaced the alternator last fall/winter, but the squeaking just started recently.

The CMS or cam position sensor may be going. I am not familiar enough with mustangs but what you described could be a water pump going or the CMS starting to act up.
