Engine sticks at 4,000 rpm while driving

My car has a V6 (3.8 liter), automatic transmission, 2003 model. 76,000 mile. It drive about 13 mpg. My problem is while driving the car if I want the rpm to go over 4,000 I press the fuel and it will not go higher that 4,000 rpm's and the car cuts. Some people told me it is the mass air flow sensor, I did not check it yet, so I need your help to know what I have to do. The only code I have on the car computer is the back o2 sensor because I removed my catalytic converters. Please help me because driving like this is really bad.

I would certainty suggest the mass air sensor. If you can try to take it out and clean it very carefully. Otherwise just try to replace it. If you removed the catalytic converters that may be a problem with the o2 sensors. I am not sure about that year model but it sounds like a MAF problem for sure. Hope this helps.

Dear friend,

I did replace the MAF and nothing changed. I also did change the cam shaft sensor and cleaned the injectors but nothing changed.
What do I have to do now?

Because I am currently having this problem and I have no idea what it could be. If you remember how you fixed your problem, please let me know! Thank you so much for your time. I have a 2000 v6 Mustang. Very similar problems as you described.

This sound like a throttle actuator issue, but we should start by running the codes to see what comes up.
