I have a 2004 mustang mach 1 and just about anytime I go to get on it the car seems to mis and sometimes sluggish and hassitent. It sometimes starts boggin out while driving and even stalls, and then will start right back up.I have changed just about all the sensors in the engine bay. All new plugs and coil packs.I dont know if its the fuel pump or something with the computer. The car has been on the dyno and tuned. But problem was happening before then and still after. And ideas? Please help

Hello and thanks for donating

This is a common symptom of a failing or dirty EGR valve. Have you inspected or tested the EGR system out?

No I have not. How would I know if its failing. How can I test it? And are you pretty positive that's what it could be?

Well it fits the puzzle for now and it's free to test so might as well. Follow steps below to check it out.

Testing steps:

"Â Remove the vacuum hose on the top of the EGR valve and plug it.

"Â Connect a short hose to the EGR valve.

"Â Start the car.

"Â Now suck on the hose, or use an appropriate tool to apply suction to the line

"Â this will open the EGR valve the engine should stumble and try to die.
If it does the EGR valve is working.

Before I read your last post I took the egr valve off and I sucked on the top and the valve opened up and closed down when I stopped. So would that mean that the valve is still good. It has some carbon in it not alot tho. So any ideas and should I just clean it and put it back on?

Yep that means its working, might as well clean it though while it's out and stick it back on see what happens. Also when was the last time the fuel filter was replaced? When they get dirty and clogged they can cause similar issues.
