2002 Ford Mustang Broken Strut

Ok, yesterday I was installing my camber plates. When I started to turn the nut at the top of the strut, I noticed it was turning the whole top end of the strut. I thought this was normal until i noticed that it wasn't supposed to do that. Have I broken my strut? Can I fix it?

Hi:
If the strut is broken, it needs replaced. It's non repairable.
