I need to troubleshoot the driver's side electric window. I recently changed the motor and it will not operate. what do I need to check first.

was it working prior to motor swap? have you check basics? (i.e. fuses, wire connections)

sounds like a binding window regulator. if fuse, wiring, switch and motor is good then regulator is all thats left. since you say motor is indeed getting power then we know the switch , wiring and fuse is good. you also replaced motor so that is good, suspect faulty regulator.
