My fan doesn't work so can you give me some pointers on what i can do myself to fix it so i can save a little cash?

check the fuse and cooling fan relay(s) first. if they are OK then check for faulty engine coolant temp. sensor. if all are OK test the fan's motor, it may be bad and need replaced.
