1993 Ford Mustang driver door won't open

one day i went to open the door and the clip holding the rod on to the outside door handle broke. so i got in from the pass. side and it wouldn't open from the inside either.so i thought the power door lock motor went bad so i removed it. that didn't help i'm stumped. what could cause this?

Chances are the linkage came apart on that door too. Have you removed the door panel to check the linkage?
