1987 Ford Mustang V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a 87 mustang with a 347 stroker in it
my alternator went bad today i replaced it now i have no charge it kills my battery and none of my interior lights or headlights work
what size battery should i use and what size alternator?
