1986 Ford Mustang V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have a new centerforce clutch in my car and the clutch ingages one inch from floor but it feels like it goes into second but when i let out the clutch it grinds and wont go in ..also it wont let me in other gears easily either. whats wrong? Do I need a new clutch or is the adjuster not tight enough

Check on the clutch pedal for the auto adjusting mechanism, might be no good! This device is supposed to adjust it automatically...
