Engine Mechanical problem
1966 Ford Mustang V8 Automatic

So this car (66 mustang) has been having electrical issues for a while (since i got it a year ago). I think the wiring issues have been resolved (the tail lights, guage lights, and blinkers wouldnt work). Up until recently it had been running ok except it didnt want to start. Timing was adjusted. I replaced starter (twice in a week, the first starter didnt work), the battery, the positive battery cable and the silnoid are all new. However now when I try to start it the fan turns, like it wants to start and then it just stops. And after an attempt or two of trying to start it, all I hear is a click, click and some kind of straining. I know whatever this means it isnt good but i cant get to a mechanic right now...any ideas?
