2009 Ford Mondeo Manual 1600 miles

Hi,

When I lock up the car there is a red warning indicator flashing on the dashboard. This does not display when the car is unlocked with the electrics on. It only appears when the car is locked when all the electrics should be off.

The handbook says this is telling me there is a warning message to view but when I look at the messages section on the computer there aren't any?

If there was an actual problem surely this icon would flash all the time? Not just when the car is switched off and locked? Obviously it's draining the battery and when left overnight it's difficult to start in the morning.

Do you have any ideas?

Is it a warning light or the security light? Also, have you contacted the dealer? It is 100% under warranty?

Let me know.

I've been having difficulty contacting the dealer. It is 100% percent under warranty.

According to the manual it is a warning light but it indicates that this light should stay on all the time if there is a problem.

Yet it only displays on mine when the car is locked.

I'm not sure what a security is or should look like?

The security light comes on and flashes when the vehicle is locked and the system is armed. I'm wondering if that is what you are seeing. The only reason I say this is because you mentioned it only happens when you lock the vehicle, and that is what would actuate the system.

As far as the dealer, isn't it interesting how easy it is to get them when they want to sell a car, but when YOU need something. I would keep bothering them until they check it. I don't want to see you have trouble with something after warranty that should be covered.

Let me know.
