2003 Ford Mondeo engine shakes and burns oil

Shakes or Wobbles problem
2003 Ford Mondeo 120000 miles

hi

my ford mondeo failed its MOT yesterday due to smoke coming out of the exhost, the garage said that the cat converted was gone and that it has to be replaced, which they did, the garage phoned me and said that it wasnt the cat converter but it was the engine now and that i have to replace the engine for the car to drive properly again.

the engine warning light is on,its burning oil and it shakes and stall sometimes.

did they say what was wrong with engine ? compression bad/knocking/piston rings/valves/ could be a bad turbo (if fitted)

they said that the engine was gone and that id have to put a new engine in, they said it'll cost me more if i try to repair it.

you may want to try and find a low mileage used engine !
