2003 Ford Mondeo CANT RELEASE THE BONNET WITH THE KEY

I have tried the turn this way then turn that way method as stated in the hand book etc and have done it many times in the past ...but for some reason it does not like it now....

I need to do the fluids etc and have been told by ford agents that they will have to destroy the grill to get access to the catch ....

Any other way of doing it ?

ty a little WD40 into the lock and also spray through the grill at the mechansim .. the only other way is by removing the grill
