Hi Folks,

I live in the UK and drive a 2001, Ford Mondeo Zetec 2000cc mk2

Suddenly heard a loud-ish ticking/knocking noise from up around the camshaft area, left hand side next to belts that would occurr in bursts of 3 or 4 clicks at a time with every turn of the enjine.

My friend told me a few days later it was the oil not getting enough pressure to feed all the cams and suggested I reve it hard to try and solve the problem and, after doing this, the noise dissapeared, permenantly.

However, I must have damaged the camshaft/follower by using the car for a few days with thie problem occurring as I now lose a lot of mph when going up a hill and the acceleration in the lower rev range is not nearly as good as it was. Have also noticed the torque kicks in around normal if I rev it by 4000rpm.

What do I have to do to repair the top end/cam follower?

Thanks for your time,

Stu

You will need to verify where the actual fault lies before we can assist on repair ! Your local library or autoparts strore will be able to supply a repair manual for the vehicle with step by step instructions on removal and refitting of parts !
