There was not a mondeo manufactured in 1987. So could you please supply the correct year ! And when you say rev's on its own? In what way? Does it stick on high rev's? Let me know as much info as possible?

Check all vacuum hoses. Are not leaking. Does the vehicle only do this when running at normal operating temp. Or also when cold?

Do you have a manual for this vehicle .. the mondeo was not released in the USA so i don't have any diagrams .. when i said vacuum hoses in meant for the air intake/throttle body etc. this diagram is for a 3.0L escort just as a reference indicator of what i mean ? .. also could you remove and clean the MAF sensor located on the air filter tube ... i have never seen it cause this sympton but i cannot do any harm to clean it !! let me know
