my car is misfiring on cylinder 4 had compresion test all ok had the tapets checked all ok starts fine seems to be more when its damp, doesnt do it all the time had it to the garage cannot track problem down any ideas

Damp whether misfire in my book translate to a bad coil or wire
check it for tune up

To add more along with Mr. BMR-you ought to check sparkplug and injector and follow other things such as below

Misfires can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.
