are K&N air filters good to use and do they actually increase HP and mileage

they increase hp that much, and maybe a little gas mileage as the engien is running more efficently but wont make that much more horsepower, unless you go with a catback system if you wanna see hp and mpg results because, whats hte point of getting more air if it cant get rid of the extra gasses.
