2006 Ford Fusion door lock

My drivers side door locks do not automatically lock. I have to manually push the inside door handle/lock into place before i exit the car. The inside door handle stays open. Whats the issue?

Remove the door panel and check for damage to the linkage. It sounds like it is bent or damaged in some way.
