2005 Ford Freestyle fuel injection system

I have 33,100 miles on my Freestyle. My mechanic said I should have my fuel Injection system serviced.
Why? How do I know that this is not a ripoff?

You can follow his instructions or just do it yourself by using the fuel injector cleaner bottle every time you fill up.
