Still overheating after changing thermostat

My car is overheating changed the thermostat and checked the coolant air conditioner and heat. still works, but it overheats when i drive fast and or for long distances gauge does not show engine being hot, but i feel it being hotter than usual when i touch the hood.

touching the hood is a very poor way to check engine temperature as outside air can vary causing this. if your gauges are reading okay and your coolant is full do not worry about it.

If you are really concerned, take a scan tool that can read live data and see what it says the temperature is. If you do not trust that the sensor is correct, use an infrared thermometer to check the temperature of the block and radiator.
As HMAC says, feeling the hood generally does not work very well.
