2004 Ford Focus The Car goes on and off

Sometimes the car will turn off while driving. Sometimes it will come back on besides itself. If you mess with the battery the car will come back on.

When you mess with the battery, what do you do? Also, are the battery terminals clean and tight? Finally, there is a ground to the engine block from the battery. Is it clean and tight?
