Air conditioning stopped. Local mechanic takes a look but indicated he doesn't have machine to diagnose etc. He places paperclip (jumper) after removing module in fuse box. Air works. He installs new module and air doesn't work. I go to ford dealership. I relate my experience and that first mechanic also placed a paper clip into something on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It did not work. Mechanic finds broken wire and repairs it with connector. It took 4 hours to find the wire. How many wires did he have to check? Is this a reasonable time to find and fix the problem?

Hello,

There are many wires to trace out. And yes it could take 4 hours and sometimes more. It depends on were they start were the break is. Tracing a break or bad wire is not easy and can take many hours to locate.

I just had a vehicle a couple weeks ago that took me 2 days to find a broken wire and only took me 10 minutes to fix it.

It cost me $368.39 for this. What did you charge for two days? rebil

Well, since I am a Mobile Mechanic and I have no real overhead. And I concider it more of a Hobby than a Job since I have 2 other jobs. I only charged my customer $150.
