2003 Ford Focus motor mounts

is it odd to have to change out the motor mounts on a 2003 auto they were deterioated rubber on the mounts cost 500 to replace with ford
and the ignition had to be replace another 600 then the carborator clean to clean out the carbons another 300 is this all a bit to much and are the mounts suppose to last longer then that

alll depends on how well the mounts were made. what conditions you drive in. how ofte you wash the vehicle. how much you drive it. temperature, road salt. oil leaks all deteriorate them at a fast rate.
