2003 Ford Focus how do i replace the air filter?

i cant figure how to replace air filter ther are to bolts and only one loosens the other spins...might be stripped! is the air filter replaceable....i went to auto zone and they gave a filter just cant get the box open...very frustrating! Help!

Some Focus models have a permanent foam-type air filter. Not regularly servicable. This design has the filter near the radiator, kind of low in the engine bay. Don't bother messing with it unless you are sure it needs to be replaced.

If your filter is nearest the windshield/firewall, then this type is the regular paper-pleated type. Just get creative and tug the top off the base. Figure out a way to get the thing off.

Schrimpieman is right its not serviceable from the factory. However you can usually get a new filter and box from your local parts store and then it will have a replaceable filter.
